Mt Lyford is a gorgeous alpine village, just 140km from Christchurch, on the slopes of Mt Lyford Ski Field. The log chalet accommodation is a perfect winter base for the family-friendly Mt Lyford ski field, or outdoor ice skating. Mt Lyford village is just an hour from both the seaside town of Kaikoura, famous for swimming with dolphins and whale watching, and the popular Hanmer Springs. Mt Lyford village itself has horseriding (10% discount on rides if booked with your holiday house), bushwalks, biking, tennis and more on its doorstep, making it a perfect, laidback year-round base.
Pokaka Lodge is set in a secluded nook of the Mt Lyford Village and is named after the rare tree near the house. It's the perfect private hide-away surrounded by native bush. Pokaka has room for up to eight or more if people sleep on the mezzanine floor. The lodge is fully equipped and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. One bedroom has a queensize bed and a single; the second bedroom has a double and 2 singles; and there are 1 double and 1 single mattress on the mezzanine floor.
